About Us

With manufacturing playing a key role in the history of southeastern Wisconsin, it should come as no surprise that an organization dedicated to promoting education among manufacturing and distribution professionals would have a very active local chapter here. The Racine Kenosha (RAKE) chapter of APICS is committed to providing its Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, McHenry, and Lake County members with local educational opportunities, professional development events, and networking opportunities.

The local Racine Kenosha chapter was founded in 1986 and is operated by an all-volunteer board of directors. In addition to providing review courses for the CPIM certification exams, the RAKE chapter also provides seminars, a monthly newsletter and professional development meetings (PDM's). PDM's are dinner meetings held locally 5 or 6 times per year that include an after dinner speaker on a topic of interest to members. The local APICS activities are a great way increase knowledge and network with other local manufacturing, distribution, and service professionals. Certification courses, PDM's, and other activities start in September and run through May. Nonmembers are always welcome at local APICS events.

Founded in 1957 as the American Production and Inventory Control Society, APICS is now known as The Association for Operations Management and has a worldwide membership of over 60,000 with more than 270 local chapters. APICS is a not-for-profit educational organization that is probably best known for its CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certification program. Introduced in 1973, CPIM has become a highly respected professional certification within manufacturing industries. CPIM certification provides professionals in manufacturing environments with career opportunities and provides employers with a means to validate prospective employees' knowledge. APICS recently added Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) education integrates your understanding of organizational resources such as information technology, materials, human resources, production and supporting equipment, facilities, and capital to meet the goals of your organization. Continued involvement in APICS provides members with lifelong learning opportunities that can help their companies gain or maintain a strategic advantage over their competitors. Those that benefit from APICS membership include Materials Managers, Production Planners, Schedulers, Master Planners, Inventory Analysts, Plant Managers, Production Supervisors, Industrial Engineers, as well as Accounting and Information Technology professionals. APICS also provides CIRM (Certified in Integrated Resource Management) certification as well as extensive additional educational resources.
